How to Relieve Itching from the Chicken Pox with Oats

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

Childhood chickenpox is a difficult time. Reducing the itch and discomfort can help.

Steps

  1. Pour the rolled oats into the nylon stocking; tie a knot in the stocking so the oats cannot spill out;
  2. Fill the bathtub to the appropriate level and temperature for your child
  3. Drop the oat-filled stocking into the tub
  4. Put your child in the tub
  5. Lift the stocking from the water, and allow the water to gently dribble from the oats onto your child's skin surface

Tips

  • The oatmeal lets off a milky liquid which calms the itching;
  • Continue bathing as long as child is enjoying the experience
  • Pat-dry... do not rub.

Warnings

  • Never leave child unattended
  • Discard oat-filled stocking after use
  • Create a new oat-filled stocking for each bath

Things You'll Need

  • clean knee-high stocking (or cut the lower 8" from one leg of panty-hose)
  • 1 cup roll oats (quick cooking, old fashioned, any type works)
